Something is happening here. The Aspen Group is conducting our fourth “Pastor’s Luncheon” in Indianapolis tomorrow with 95 people attending. Our goal was 30 attendees when we initiated the luncheon effort in late 06. The response has been overwhelming.
So what is happening……why all the interest. Evan McBroom, from the ministry communication firm Fishhhook (fishhhook.us), is joining me in exploring the underlying cultural movements behind the unmistakable decline in Christian influence throughout America. Why the decline…..and…..how do we address it? Can the older generation as “digital immigrants”, learn to use the digital age communication tools to reach into the hearts of our “digital native” young people…………… creating a “New Story” that again compels people to find their way back to God?
Provoking as well is a recent comment from Australian Alan Hirsch’s (www.theforgottenways.org), “The US is the last hope for Christianity in the Western world.” And, recent research that reveals the 16-29 year old age group in America now has more trust in the gay community than the Christian community. There seems to be much work to do. Maybe the important issue isn’t figuring out why 95 people are showing up tomorrow but how to get 950…..or 9500 people engaged in a conversation to seize this critical moment!

It was EXCELLENT, Ed (and Evan). Thank you.
[...and thanks for the lunch too -- that was great. I think you accomplished a lot for the Indianapolis sector of the kingdom that day.]
Hey thanks IndyChristian.
Let’s keep this conversation going stretching our understanding as far as we can. In Hosea we read….”My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”….there’s much work to do it seems.
Ed
Ed! It’s about time your big brain infiltrated the blogosphere. I love hearing what God is showing you about the future of the church. Thanks for sharing those ideas and challenging all of us to get on board.
Snazzy blog header … perfectly encapsulates the progression you teach about. I’d be curious to see what the next photo collage in the series would look like.
Thanks for your leadership.
