We’ve talked often here about cultural isolation and the gnawing need for connection. Here’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in discussion how a “Third Place” can become a ministry for connection. Aspen Group is hosting a Pastor’s Luncheon Tuesday June 10th in Chicago to explore “Third Place” opportunities for ministry.
I say opportunities, but it may be more than that actually. Four years ago, we had a round table discussion with Ray Oldenburg, the sociologist who observed the isolation phenomena and coined the term “Third Place”. Starbucks built their strategy around his insights and the rest is history as they say.
What I will always remember from that discussion was Ray’s answer to my question, “Do you think Third Place is an opportunity for the church?” Ray pondered quietly for a moment and then said, “I not only think it’s an opportunity, but a responsibility for the church!”
Michael Trent, the founder of “Third Place Consulting, will be with us to share grounded insights on how to own this responsibility and implement an effective “Third Place” ministry. Your invited and it’s no cost to you!

Sounds like a great day! I’ll be expecting full reports afterward! Great opportunity.
Hey Marla, you need to join us!
I am sure it will be a blessed meeting, and to have the original church bartender speak is great. I have heard that my new senior pastor will be attending and I hope to be joining him for the day.
Thanks you all for the wonderful ministry that you do.
God Bless,
dl
