An encouraging recent Barna study revealed that many churches have attempted to help their congregations understand and responsibly address the current financial challenges in the U.S.
- 78% noted that their churches are providing special prayer support for those who are struggling financially.
- 52% of those surveyed said that their churches increased the amount of material assistance made available to members during the past three months, such as food, clothing and other basic needs.
- 38% of those surveyed said their church had offered a special talk about the financial situation and ways to respond to it.
- 39% of churchgoers said their church has offered specific opportunities for personal financial counseling.
This is good news, but should churches be doing more?
What creative things are your church or groups doing to help those struggling inside and outside your walls?

People will never come up with a plan better than Gods financial plan. (Luke 6:38 and Malachi 3:10)
When it comes to finances, God said “put Him to the test” and watch Him prove it.
But of course, we have to trust Him.
The thing that churches have to do more of, is teaching the body not to depend on this worlds system and depend on the Kingdom system. The church has to be bold enough to teach it and not be scared of criticism.
Yes God’s way sounds crazy to people, but what else is new. So does a virgin birth, but yet we believe.
Lets believe God knows more about finances than we do.
We have intellectualized the Gospel too much, for too long. Let’s just do what the Word says to do.
I can give you all kinds of testimonies of how it works, but ot keep this brief, “It Works.”
There are 37 million Americans in poverty. What my church is doing to help turn this around?
We are teaching people how to work Gods principles
Teaching people who they are in Christ, how important they are to the Kingdom, and how they can their lives and people around them.
The church has a pre school, grade school, and working on a highschool.
We are training up leaders and entrepreneurs at the churches accredited business school.
Also the church started it’s own Bank, to start financing church projects and christian businesses.
With all of these resources the church gives back to people in need and other churches that might need help.
BE bold church and think BIGGER
Tyrone,
You continually stretch my thinking. I always appreciate how you push me to see issues from a “hope in God” perspective.
