Hollywood does a remarkable job of making fake things real. Christians can do a remarkable job of making real things fake.
Tough times pressure all of us to try to be something we aren’t. With the demand today to be relevant, this is especially true for ministries. When we do this, we take the power of the gospel and make it look like more cheeky marketing chatter.
So what’s a ministry leader to do? We’re exploring that question tomorrow at another of our “Pastor’s Luncheons” in Naperville, IL. We’ll unpack the unique attributes of churches and organizations that are thriving in these uncertain times. Here’s a quick overview:
To conquer fear in uncertain times, we must:
- Create a MOVEMENT versus a church
- Develop a compelling MESSAGE versus flavor of the month
- Engage unique “soul cravings” for MOTIVATION versus blindly assuming they get it
We’re pretty jazzed about this new content and the opportunity for discovery with some of the leading ministries in Chicago. Our initial goal for these pastor’s luncheons was to have an open conversation with a group of 25-30 pastors. We are blessed to have well over twice that number registered tomorrow! Ideas are always powerful, but especially in these uncertain times.
Check back for thoughts from the conversation later this week.
