Last week I wrote a post titled “We Want To Participate” about the need for the church to become a place where everyone can participate, effectively use their gifts, and feel God’s joy.
I’ve been asked to help facilitate a group of eleven large church pastors. They are committed to share their dreams, ideas, and resources to learn how to create that kind of church. These special guys lead over 70,000 in weekend attendance, but you’d never know it. They believe the future church won’t be about talented pastors and polished professionals.
Last night we gathered for a learning retreat here in Manhattan. The group is humbly seeking God’s leading to move beyond the traditional church growth model. They are passionate about learning to engage everyone in the mission to transform their communities. For example, one of the churches engaged their congregation to reduce the crime rate 25% in North Charleston, SC.
Even though I also posted last week about how the future of Christianity has shifted to the developing world, these guys aren’t about to surrender the church here in the US. It’s going to be a remarkable day of insight…more to come.
Romans 8:37…in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
